Health Insurance

WPS (Edgewood's International Student Insurance Policy)

At Edgewood College all* international students and exchange visitors are required to purchase health insurance to protect against the high cost of medical care in the United States. Edgewood will automatically enroll all F-1 students, J-1 exchange visitors and J-2 dependents in our health insurance plan with WPS Health Insurance, and the fee will be billed directly to your student account through the College’s Business Office. WPS is a non-profit corporation that has been providing quality health care coverage to people in Wisconsin for over 65 years.

With this plan, all services you receive at the Edgewood College Health Center are covered at 100% (no additional cost to you).  In addition to the College’s Health Center, there are many providers in the WPS network in the Madison area where you will receive 80% coverage after paying a $100 deductible.

Students should carefully review WPS policy information (link below), especially the prescription drug benefits ($1000 annual maximum), and contact the Center for Global Education or the Health Center if you have concerns about the coverage.  You can use www.goodrx.com  to help you determine the cost of prescription drugs in the U.S.

*Students sponsored by SACM and ISEP, who are required to be enrolled in insurance through their sponsors, are waived from the Edgewood insurance enrollment requirement.

Do you want or need to see a doctor off campus?
To receive maximum coverage from WPS, you should find a Tier 1 provider in the WPS network.  If you seek care from an out-of-network provider (WPS uses the term “Tier 2 provider”), you will not receive maximum coverage and may be subject to higher healthcare costs. See the policy information link above for specific details about the coverage for Tier 1 and Tier 2 providers.

How to find a Tier 1 provider/facility (Clinic, Urgent Care Center, Hospital, Emergency Room):
- Go to the WPS website to find a specific facility or provider.
- Go to the Find a Doctor tool.
- Enter zip code (53711 Edgewood College)
- Select Provider Location (typically 5 – 10 miles)
- Find by Facility (Hospital or Urgent Care) or Find by Provider (Specific Specialty Need)
- Contact service(s) based on urgency and type required.

**Remember to bring your health insurance card to any medical visit and be prepared to pay at least a $20 copay at the medical visit**

If you need to see a provider in the United States, you will need to present your medical ID Card. You are not required to use a MultiPlan provider.

If you receive services in the United States, your provider will most likely want to file a claim for you using his or her own form. In some cases, you may be asked to pay for the services you receive and then request reimbursement by filing a claim directly with ASRM, LLC.

How to submit your claim with IEES:

A claim can only be processed with itemized bills and a diagnosis. Please read the claim instructions carefully. Remember to keep photocopies of all documents submitted.
