At Edgewood College all* international students and exchange visitors are required to purchase health insurance to protect against the high cost of medical care in the United States. Edgewood will automatically enroll all F-1 students, J-1 exchange visitors and J-2 dependents in our health insurance plan with WPS Health Insurance, and the fee will be billed directly to your student account through the College’s Business Office. WPS is a non-profit corporation that has been providing quality health care coverage to people in Wisconsin for over 65 years. With this plan, all services you receive at the Edgewood College Health Center are covered at 100% (no additional cost to you). In addition to the College’s Health Center, there are many providers in the WPS network in the Madison area where you will receive 80% coverage after paying a $100 deductible. Students should carefully review WPS policy information (link below). *Students sponsored by SACM and ISEP, who are required to be enrolled in insurance through their sponsors, are waived from the Edgewood insurance enrollment requirement.
F-2 dependents (spouse, domestic partner and children) are not automatically enrolled in the WPS health insurance policy, but Edgewood College highly recommends that you enroll your F-2 dependents in this policy. Deadlines for Enrollment: You can only enroll your dependents during the annual open enrollment period, which is June 1 through September 30. The effective date of coverage will be August 1. If you start your program at Edgewood College at the beginning of the spring semester, you can only enroll your dependents within 30 days of the start of the spring semester. Eligible dependents can also be enrolled within 60 days of one of the qualifying events listed below:
Your dependents are only eligible for coverage as long as you, the student, remain eligible for coverage in the WPS policy.
Enrollment Form To enroll your dependents submit a paper enrollment form and payment directly to WPS. Use the Dependent Enrollment Form tip sheet for instructions on completing the enrollment form. Rates/Price The rates for the dependent policy are as follows:
Students who are enrolled in the WPS health insurance policy are also eligible to enroll in a dental insurance policy through WPS and Delta Dental. The dental insurance is completely optional.
